Our Western medical approach to problems is to treat the symptom. It makes sense, doesn’t it? If something is wrong, we want to fix it! The problem is that if you don’t look further to find out what the cause is, the symptom or its sibling will probably come back, sometimes in an even worse form.
That is why I think an anti-inflammatory diet is so very important – it treats the cause. We know that many of the chronic disease states are directly involved with cellular inflammation, so an anti-inflammatory diet can make a big difference. We think about digestive issues and things like diabetes being related to diet, but if you think about inflammation at a cellular level, you realize that it affects everything.
